(FEDERALSBURG, MARYLAND) - L. Nash McMahan has been named Vice President of Business Development for Tri Gas & Oil Co., Inc., a regional propane, petroleum and alternative fuel supplier/distributorship headquartered in Federalsburg, Maryland.
After serving seven years as Tri Gas & Oil's Director of Wholesale and Transportation, McMahan will now be responsible for the growth and development of Tri Gas & Oil in existing and new markets. Through strategic acquisitions of propane and petroleum companies and development of key corporate accounts, McMahan will leverage the company's wholesale and retail markets for energy products including propane, conventional heating oil, kerosene, off- and on-road diesel, biodiesel and the company's soy-based AGRI-BLEND heating oil. McMahan will also be responsible for building the company's markets in petroleum fuel deliveries and storage throughout the mid-Atlantic region.
McMahan, a Caroline County native resident, is a third generation member of Tri Gas & Oil since his grandparents, Lee D. & Audrey McMahan, started storing and delivering fuel for their poultry business more than 50 years ago. Keith McMahan, Nash's father, currently serves as Chairman of the company, with sister Julie and brother David also working in the daily operations of the organization. "It's an honor to carry forward the traditions of my grandparents," comments Nash McMahan. "From delivering a competitive and energy-efficient product to a focus on neighborly service, we're deeply committed to our community and our customers."
McMahan, who received his bachelor's degree from Towson University, serves as Vice President of the Caroline County Chamber of Commerce and President-elect of the Mid-Atlantic Propane Gas Association. He is a Board Member of the Chesapeake College Foundation, the Maryland Motor Truck Association and an Advisory Board Member for Caroline County Hospice. McMahan's community service includes membership in the Talbot Optimist Club of Easton, the Ames United Methodist Church in Hobbs, Maryland, and the Eastern Shore Chapter of Executive Ministries. He volunteers with the Caroline County American Cancer Society and lives in Williston with his wife Melanie.
"Nash demonstrates a true commitment to those we serve. I appreciate his enthusiasm and what it means for the future of our company," comments Keith McMahan, Tri Gas & Oil's Chairman, and Nash's father.
In 1946, Lee D. McMahan, Nash's grandfather, started the McMahan Poultry Company. In the early 50's, he acquired a used oil truck to deliver fuel to his poultry houses and soon started delivering oil to other poultry farmers on Maryland's Eastern Shore. In 1963, Tri Gas & Oil Co., Inc. was established by Lee D. McMahan and Gilbert Banning.
Today, Tri Gas & Oil continues as the same family-owned business, providing energy solutions for customers throughout the Delmarva region with propane gas, oil products and alternative fuels for home, agriculture and industrial uses.
The company's fuel distribution services extend beyond Maryland and Delaware to commercial and agricultural consumers throughout the mid-Atlantic region. As a leader in bio-fuel usage on the Eastern Shore, Tri Gas & Oil introduced its soy-based AGRI-BLEND heating oil in 2005, offering home heating customers a cleaner-burning, environmentally and farm-friendly fuel without additional cost or special equipment. Tri Gas & Oil, headquartered in Federalsburg, Maryland, employs 150 associates in five locations throughout the Delmarva Peninsula. For more information, visit www.trigas-oil.com.
